Since its announcement, the movie Merry Christmas has dominated the news. Sriram Raghavan, one of the best directors in Indian film, has assembled an A-list cast that includes Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif. Finally released after multiple postponements, the film unquestionably possesses all the makings of an exciting entertainment.
Two major characters, Katrina Kaif’s Maria and Vijay Sethupathi’s Albert, are the focus of the film. It all starts on a Christmas Eve when two complete strangers cross paths, and the film follows their lives as they navigate the unexpected turns that life throws at them.
The film’s script is solid, supporting the narrative that holds the audience’s attention throughout. The takeoff, however, is slightly delayed. Sriram Raghavan’s stunning direction will hold your attention from the opening credits to the closing credits.
Speaking of performances, seeing actor Vijay Sethupathi give a stellar performance was, without a question, a delight. On top of that, the actor’s comedic one-liners were top-notch. To contrast, Katrina Kaif is stunningly gorgeous in every scene. Her charisma will undoubtedly captivate you. Quite a few scenes feature her prominently. However, performers such as Vinay Pathak, Tinu Anand, and Sanjay Mishra were passable despite having very little to contribute.
One of the movie’s redeeming qualities is its original plot, which revolves around a single Christmas Eve. From the opening scene onward, the second half is nonstop action. Watching Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi perform was an absolute delight. You can’t help but giggle at Vijay Sethupathi’s one-liners. Beautifully crafted story arcs. Additionally, as is typical of Sriram Raghavan films, this one has some excellent twists and turns.
If we must point out any drawbacks, it must be the tedious beginning of the story. A great deal of effort goes into developing the plot and creating the exciting parts. A lot of unanswered issues arise during the film, as is typical of Shriram Raghavan’s work.
With that out of the way, Merry Christmas is a must-read for thriller aficionados because it has almost no plot holes. Anyone who enjoys suspenseful and thrilling films and is a fan of Sriram Raghavan’s work would adore this one.
With a score of 3/5, Team Tellychakkar wishes you a Merry Christmas.
